Independent Project Reviews

Assess a project's progress and health and recommend course corrections or point out areas for improvement.

Independent Project Reviews (IPRs) are project management mechanisms that enable an unbiased, outside expert to assess a project's progress and health and recommend course corrections or point out areas for improvement.  An independent review may address such needs as:

  • Preparing for a specific gate decision meeting;
  • Conducting a health check during the course of a long-term project; and
  • Staging a workshop review of one specific topic (e.g., a business requirement capture review, a design review, a technology architecture review) or selecting a course of action to deal with a critical issue that has arisen.
